03/09/2009 - Ottawa, ON (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Daniel Alfredsson and Dany Heatley scored back- to-back goals near the end of the second period, as the Ottawa Senators came back to edge the Toronto Maple Leafs, 2-1.
Brian Elliot stopped 25-of-26 shots for Ottawa, which has won three in a row. The Senators are 2-2-1 against the Leafs this season, and wrap up the season series on April 11 in Toronto, in what will be both teams' final regular season game.
Ian White had the lone goal for Toronto, which has lost two in a row. Curtis Joseph also faced 26 shots, but allowed two of them to go in and took the loss.
White gave Toronto the early lead by scoring 4:48 into the game, as he got the puck in the low left circle, moved near the slot and fired a shot past Elliot while falling down.
But Ottawa grabbed the lead with two goals in the second period.
With 4:46 left, Alfredsson scored on a rush. He raced into the right circle and blasted a shot past Joseph to tie the game. Then, with 47 seconds left in the period, Heatley redirected an Anton Volchenkov blast into the net for a 2-1 Senators lead.
Elliot made 10 saves in the third period to make the lead stand.
Game Notes
Ottawa was 0-for-4 on the power play, while Toronto went 0-for-3...The Senators improved to 4-2-1 on their current eight-game homestand, which concludes Wednesday against Tampa Bay...The Maple Leafs host the New York Islanders on Tuesday.

Mayweather picked to beat De La Hoya
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya and his rival Floyd Mayweather Jr. arrived at the MGM Grand here Wednesday amid the pomp and pandemonium befitting two of the biggest stars in the sport who are about to duke it out for the WBC super welterweight crown this Saturday (Sunday in Manila).
As of Wednesday, MySportsbook.com closed its book with Mayweather a favorite to defeat De La Hoya at -170 (a $100 bet wins $70), while De La Hoya is a +140 underdog (a $100 bet wins $140).

Ring Magazine, the acknowledged bible of boxing, reported in its June 2007 issue that 12 out of 20 boxing experts it interviewed have favored Mayweather to defeat De la Hoya, with only 8 favoring the latter.
But Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao said in a recent interview with The Freeman's Emmanuel Villaruel that De La Hoya will win by unanimous decision over Mayweather.
